I think the LRT/telling stories about songs idea is still viable. Carole should host a talk show about music. Start with her letting the audience suggest songs of hersthey love, maybe a slightinput from the audience member what that song means to them, she does the demo and tells stories about how the songs came to be and the life they lived in the world. Then she could have various huge musical people on to talk about their great songs and how they were created and what they mean to the...

Got the disk, and boy is this a horror show. Carole's song is so bad, my teeth almost feel out and my ears spurted blood. It is the schlockiest of the Broadway type style songs I have heard in sometime. More Chet Baker, less Paul Williams, Please!!!! Can't Carole's hip kids sit her down and give a yay or a nay to this stuff? Someone ought to.

Let's hope 2007 gets Carole out of the damn living room -- so tired of the concept and tour name. It worked the first year. Let's hope she makes her way into the recording studio this year to "cook up" something new. Carly Simon's CD debuted at #15 this week-- a new CK ablum could do just as well if not better. Even if it's an album of new takes on some of her under-covered songs, I'd be happy.

Bob

One thing in that recent interview I loved, and I know Carole has said it before, was that Gerry Goffin taught her how to write lyrics. Keep It Simple. What a excellent mantra for creativity. I still have one from my earliest art teacher, who used to say in watercolor class: "Let the water do the work." Do you guys think that changes over time? Can simple become corny and sentimental, or is it always elemental? I'm stoned and trying not to paint!!

Wow, Carole defended Paul Mac, accused as abusive toward his wife, with saying the wife should get a slap in the face! That is really awful and remarkable. Afterall this is the woman who wrote HHMAIFLAK, and there are so many repressed S&M moments in Goffin King songs, that it makes you go Hmmmm.... That was so wrong of her, IMHO. I always thought Paul looked like an alcoholic, closet case, IMHO.
