I love the new Jane Myers single --"I'm Tired of Rolling My Pennies"-- it has a Tom Waits/Janis Joplin groove to it. I don't "hear" any Carole King influence in it though...

My guess is that it's been a while since Carole has had to roll pennies. Whereas one day Carole is yellow, one day she is blue, JM has that wonderful transparent quality that I think is what appeals to you in her work. I find the piano work more concerto-like than CK influenced. But stellar, nonetheless.
Well, I see an advertisement below for singlesnet.com, so I guess it's time to head over there and see how JM's new single is bounding up the charts. |
